Post: Unemployed Duel Certified Teacher

Posted by NJTeacher on 6/23/09

    Hello,
This is my sixth year looking for full-time employment
as a special education teacher. I have a BA in Elementary
Education and a MA in Special Education. I have covered
numerous maternity leave coverages over the years, and I
want to settle down in one district. New Jersey has not
been a great location for my job search. There is a
surplus of teachers and you have to know someone to get
into a district. I think it's time to move somewhere else
and persue my dream of teaching. I recently finished the
year teaching middle school special education in Camden,
NJ and my school's charter may not be renewed. My major
question is, what states REALLY need special
    education/elementary education teachers? I would
appreciate honest answers and any advice on this matter.

    Thanks,
    Frustrated NJ Teacher
