Re: TeacherInsight - Thoughts & Advice
Posted by Miss Independent on 6/28/09

    Mark,

I would never have sued as I feel that's a premature response. (I
realize that you were directing the response to the poster who
mentioned that prior, but I figured I should make it clear that
this is not an option for me.)

However, I do agree with the previous poster that there really is
no way to ensure that such a test is free from cultural bias. I
know the website says everyone is given the same questions, but to
be honest people respond to test questions differently, based on
experience and cultural backgrounds. (I just did a long 4 day
conference based on this and how it impacts students.)

Do I think the test is fair? Not particularly. However, I do want
to get into the district hence heeding the advice of people who
    are good test takers.

I really think there should be a medium.

(P.S. Mark, when you said pure socialism you made me smile.
Someone in my family has the same beliefs as you and I love her
dearly. However, this has nothing to do with the Insight, just a
    fun observation.)

Aside from suing a district (and speaking of which, it makes me
wonder what would happen if the supreme court sides with the city
that recently threw out test results of fire fighters. The suit
claims that such tests are invalid because they racially
discriminate against other test takers. And before anyone gets all
cranky, I'm simply musing on what type of ramifications this suit
would have on tests like TeacherInsight. I'm not saying I agree or
    disagree with the lawsuit.)

Complaints aside, does anyone have any test taking advice specific
    to the TeacherInsight?
