Post: Nashville, TN schools?

I am certified in NC and considering looking in neighboring
states like VA and TN to expand my employment possibilities.
It would appear that Nashville is desperate for teachers.
Now, I've been around long enough to know that a district
that is desperate for teachers in the midst of budget cuts &
an econ. downturn can be a bit...dodgy. Indeed, a very small
amount of research reveals that Nashville Metro isn't
exactly the most highly rated school district out there.
Anyone here had any experience with the Nashville school
system as a teacher, parent, student, etc.? Are there some
schools to seek out and/or avoid? Should I avoid it
altogether? Any advice would be appreciated.
