Re: Unemployed teacher in S.W. Michigan

I'm also in Southwest lower Michigan and it is very difficult to obtain a teaching job. I graduated April of 2008. I've applied for many places but they have told me that they are hiring people with more experience. It is hard to get the experience if nobody gives you the chance. The schools that I have talked to said they get to pick teachers that have years of experience in that have been laid off. I really don't want to move out of state, but they said it will probably be like this for a couple more years. And yes..many applicants! I also thought about going back to school this fall. Are you talking about the no worker left behind? When I talked to Michigan Works, they said they would help pay for that!!
