Re: Jobs I applied for:
Posted by Catsister on 11/03/09

Actually, the 3 month position is a longshot. They probably can't get me into that
position, because they have to run the criminal check again (another $35.00 for New
Jersey). A clearance letter from 2008 with the name of another school district on is
unacceptable. I will probably be a per diem sub. Two years ago I was department chair
at a well-respected Catholic school. I actually mentored other teachers, ordered
supplies and worked on curricula. Now, I can't get a 3 month teaching job because I am
a child molester until proven otherwise. The state takes its time printing those clearance
    letters.

My Catholic school closed, and I spent a year in public school. I had the worst kids
(although they sort of grew on me, they were difficult), the worst classroom situation,
the worst duty. I feel that I was set up to fail. The kids I had would not sit quietly in a
lecture, raising their hand to answer "higher order thinking questions." They were just
too hyper and turned-off from school. When I did a simple hands-on activity that
actually engaged them, I was pilloried by my administrator, even though I had
previously gotten good evaluations, from him and another observer. I never stood a
chance after that bad observation, I realize. They also got rid of my classes for the
    upcoming school year.

Well, I'll let you know how it goes.
