Re: So tired of this....
Posted by Catsister on 11/03/09

I feel for you. I'm sorry you had to wait so long for someone to reply.
I taught for 8 years. I lost my job of 7 years when the school closed, but got a
"better" job before the summer was over. Well, that was a joke. The pay was
better, but the conditions were awful. I used to have my own classroom with
microscopes, slides, an overhead, etc. My last year's job--nothing. I was
running around like a nut to 4 classrooms, plus duty every day (my old school
was one day a week) It was terrible. I feel like I was set up to fail and my
contract wasn't renewed (also the two "babysitting the underachiever classes"
    were discontinued)

I just got hired, finally (around Halloween) as a sub. I might be a permanent sub
that teaches, but probably not because I have to have my fingerprints cleared
again. (All those people I could've molested in a year, you know.) If they can't
get me into the classroom by the time this teacher goes on sick leave, I'll be a
per diem sub at several schools all over the area. My mother did this and LOVED
it. she loved traveling and seeing a different place every day. She's actually
jealous of me that I'm getting this job. Meanwhile, I want to cry. I just want my
own classroom with microscopes and an overhead like I used to have.
Meanwhile, I'm now having health issues of my own. . .

I hear ya. It's bad now, maybe after election day some bonds will float or
something, and they'll hire more people. Good luck.
