Post: Retire-Rehire

Posted by k12 on 11/04/09

    This just in.

Just talked to someone up for a job teaching Japanese. The
job was posted, and she went through several steps of the
application process, including an interview. The district
instead hired a retired teacher who wanted to come back and
teach. In fact, they knew this from the beginning. Why in
God's name would you spend your time fooling around with
someone you have no plans on hiring? And why are districts
continuing to do the retire-rehire thing when there is such
as glut of teachers on the market?
