Post: Offered and accepted position....but haven't started yet.
Posted by CjeanB on 9/26/11
Hello,
I was wondering if anyone could give me advice or relate to
this. In late April I went on an interview for an English
Teaching position. I didn't hear anything afterwards, but
in August I received a call from that school district
offering me the job, teaching 10th grade English. I was so
excited and so was the principal and her secretary that I
was still available for the position. I was told that
because I was interviewed so long ago, I would have to
reapply for the position, but in meantime put myself on the
sub list so I can get into the classroom as soon as
possible. I was told that the paperwork filled during my
interview would just be updated. I completed and submitted
all paperwork, and I reapplied for the position.
I called last week to check on the status and was told that
the district hadnt sent the applicants to them yet. Once
they do, interviews will be conducted. I was stumped by
this, but I asked whether I would have to come in for an
interview again, the answer being no my paperwork would just
be updated but if i have to come in I'd be notified.
I wasn't told anything else, in terms of preparing anything,
going to meetings...nothing. Has this happened to anyone.
Any advice given would be greatly appreciated. Right now, I
feel that all i can do is be patient and proactive in
applying for other positions...
