Pass the Present

Here is a great warm up for any language classroom.

Objectives:
The students will give a present to a fellow student using the proper greetings in the target language.
The students will receive a present from a fellow student using the proper verbal responses.

Procedure:
1. Create two presents. You can get creative and actually wrap two boxes with left over wrapping paper, or come up with some kind of alternative gpresenth to pass around.
2. Divide the class into two teams. Make sure they are as even as possible.
3. Explain to the students that they are to pass the present from one student to another as quickly as possible. While doing so, they must say the proper greetings and responses. For example: here, thank you, you are welcome. Or make it harder. A: Here is something for your birthday, B: Oh, you did not have to A: but I wanted to.
4. The first team to pass the present around wins. However, if you hear a student say any part incorrectly, the pair must start over from the beginning. (-not the beginning of the team, but just the verbal exchange between the two.)
5. If you can not listen to both teams at the same time, have the class work as one big team against the clock. How fast can they complete the task?
