#1085. Turkey Art

Art, level: all
Posted Thu May 13 21:21:44 PDT 1999 by Kelli (travisak@ptialaska.net).
June Nelson Elementary School, Kotzebue, AK
Materials Required: coffee filters, brown and orange construction paper, markers, newspapers
Activity Time: 20-30 minutes

I use this as an art center. You will need to cover the work area with newspaper so that the marker does not go through. Each child will need a coffee filter. The child colors the coffee filter with alternating colors of marker. When they have finished this, they cut out the body of the turkey with brown construction paper, and the feet and the beak with the orange construction paper. I have the students use a black marker to draw the eyes. I use these as mobiles for the month of November, so I have them put a body on each side of the filter.

These make colorful decorations and the kids love to do them.
