#124. Herman the Worm chant

Language, level: Pre-School
Posted by Sherri (belle@ptd.net).
Allentown, PA

The children patch to this song/chant and it is very catchy!

Herman the Caterpillar

I was sitting on a bench just chewing my bubblegum (chew, chew, chew)
and playing with my yo-yo (weee-woo)
When along came Herman and he was
T-h-i-s big (Use hands-start small, getting bigger each time).
I asked, "Herman, What did you do?"
"Ate my brother."
"Ate my sister." (second time around)
"Ate my mother." (third time around...)
"Ate my father."

(Note: the last time Herman comes along he is very small again.)
When along came Herman and he was T-h-i-s big!
I asked, "Herman, what did you do?"

"I burped."

(Explain manners to the children, excuse me, etc.)
