#1307. Question of the day

Social Studies, level: all
Posted Sun Sep 19 20:12:11 PDT 1999 by Jackie Scheib (eco@sopris.net).
Glenwood Springs Middle School, Glenwood Springs, Colorado
Materials Required: A question of the day box and small pieces of paper for their answers
Activity Time: 1-3 minutes, one to five times a week
Concepts Taught: current events and geography

When my students first come into my classroom, they look to see if there is a starred question on the board. This is the question of the day. The question pertains to local, state, or national current events. I offer 1 x-tra credit point in Social Studies per correct answer. This is an optional activity and I am always amazed to see the growth in my students' interest from the beginning of the year to the end of the year.
