#1319. The Name Game

Games, level: all
Posted Sat Sep 25 22:03:11 PDT 1999 by Patricia Jauregui (patyrosa@aol.com).
Stevenson Middle School, East Los Angeles, California
Materials Required: None
Activity Time: 30-45 minutes
Concepts Taught: Learning Student's names.

For those of us in secondary classroom, this is great for having to learn 120 - 150 names per semester:

Have the students stand in a circle. Starting with one student, he/she is to say his or her name as he/she wants it said. Going clockwise, the person next to this first student must repeat the first student's name, then say his or her own. Then the next student must repeat the first student's name, the second student's name, and his or her own. It goes on until you go all the way around the circle at least twice. If a student has trouble remembering a name, the teacher or students may give clues (which will end-up helping via word association). Anyone who messes-up must go to the back of the circle.
