Lesson Plan for Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes
Level: Pre-school, First Grade
Mat'l needed: Posters illustrating each nursery rhyme to be
used in lesson. No poster, picture from the net or book en-
larged and colored. Brown construction paper with picture
of old shoe, stickers of your choice. I used stickers of the
rhyme we were studying.

First day: introduce There Was An Old Woman. Each student
is given the chance to recite. Send home a copy of rhyme
requesting parents to help memorize the rhyme. Each student
cuts out construction paper shoe. Add irredecent shoe strings
for color. Hang the shoes in an easy to reach location.

Second Day: Students recite the rhyme. If they can recite
the rhyme without help, they can place a matching sticker
on the shoe (my shoe has windows so we place the sticker in
the window. Offer a treat to those who memorize any number
of rhymes.
