ASSESSMENT: COMPLETED MAPS AND STORIES

PROCEDURES:

Students will view the filmstrip on the atlas as a whole group.
Teacher and students will discuss different types of maps and what they are used for.
Students are to use the atlas to locate a political and physical map
Students are to locate a map of their country and then state map.
Students are to write a story about things and places seen in their community, share their
story with their partner, make corrections.
Students are to come to the computer in groups of two at a time.
Log onto http://maps.yahoo.com/py/maps.py
They are to type in their address. Press enter, their map will appear
Students are to copy and paste the map onto the word processor. Then they
are to locate thier home.
Using their story, they are to write in on the page where the map is located and
use pictures in their story to identify things that you can see in their neighborhood.
When all are complete, they are to share their map and story with the class.
