ASSIGNMENT
Students follow the leadership of teacher at the front of the class, who is running the computer and talking to the class, while students read out loud and answer questions from online content.
STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
Fire up the Web on your laptop computer so that all of your students may view the screen in your class.

http://www.free-vocab-puzzles.com

Click on Puzzle #10 under novelist, Booth Tarkington, for example.

Click on the first word in the upper lefthand corner of the interactive crossword puzzle.

Assign each student a word in sequence. NOTE: You could go by rows or columns to assign your students a word (in synchronization with the puzzle).

The student should read out loud the interactive crossword puzzle clue: the un-copyrighted quote and the three definitions of vocabulary words that are used to prepare for the ACT/SAT tests.

When an answer is chosen, the teacher clicks on the "Solve" button under the word clue and the correct word is loaded.

NOTES ON ALTERNATE LESSON PLAN IDEA
Alternately, all of the words can be checked at the end to keep your students in suspense until the puzzle is completed! To do this, simply key in the words manually and then click on the "Check Puzzle" button in the bottom lefthand corner, after the puzzle is completed, instead of clicking the "Solve" button to create each word entry.
GENERAL NOTES: HOW TO DO PUZZLES
" Click on a white space in the puzzle to get started.
The question will appear on the right. Type in your answer, click ""OK"" and your word will appear in the puzzle.
If you don't know the answer, click ""Solve"" and the answer will be filled in for you.
At any time you can click ""Check Puzzle"" at the bottom. Wrong answers will be highlighted in black."
