Lesson Plan
Kindergarten
Introduction: In order for the students to understand basic songs and dances, students will be listening to music and also
learning different dances.
Instructional Objective: After reading the story, "The Music for Max", students can draw their favorite instruments from the
book.
Lesson Initiation: The teacher will ask the students to explain the first thing that comes to mind when read the title of the book.
Material: Book-"The Music for Max"
Pictures of different dances from around the world
Instructional Activities:
Presentation: teachers will hold up pictures for the students to look at.
Guided Practice: The first part of the story will be read and the teacher will ask the children to predict what will happen next
in the story.
Independent Practice: Each student will pick their favorite dance or the one that they think is the funniest, and explain to the
class what it is or where they have seen it.
Review: Review of the dances and songs from the book and let the children hear a few choice selections of those songs on
audio tape.
Lesson Summary: Teacher will do a review songs, dances, also the time and settings of each.
Lesson Evaluation: Evaluation of each students performances will take place by watching the children respond to the sounds,
what they like/dislike.
