Lesson Plan


Rationale
The purpose of this lesson is to help students gain a better understanding of the biological processes of a fetus. Students will learn step by step what occurs during a pregnancy.
This lesson will be a starting point for students on which we will add on throughout the course. This lesson is a basic beginning to the subject on which students can build on by applying other information learned in the future.

Objectives
TPO:
The tenth grade students will be able to identify and understand what occurs at each stage of fetal development with 100% accuracy.


Enabling Objectives
Learners will be able to:
*Understand vocabulary based on conception and stages of fetal
development.
*Participate in classroom discussion concerning fetal development.
*Identify and compare different stages of fetal development.
*Ask questions on the topic about concepts they did not understand.


Lesson Activities
Time Activity
5 minutes Students will be informed of upcoming quizzes or assignments and will also get an overview of the lecture.
10 minutes Students will be lectured on what occurs during the second trimester to a fetus. Pictures will be passed around of the developing fetus.
5 minutes Students will be lectured on what occurs during the first trimester to a fetus.
10 minutes Students will be shown a brief video on the three trimesters of fetal development.
5 minutes Students will be asked questions about information learned in the lecture. Vocabulary assignment will be assigned for the next day. Students will then be dismissed.
TOTAL 45 minutes
