#184. Contractions manipulative

Reading/Writing, level: Elementary
Posted by Janice ().
Westgate Elem., Cadiz, OH
Materials Required: teacher made folded strips
Concepts Taught: Learning contractions

This is a correction of my lesson plan. Directions
for making the strips was somehow not copied with the
lesson. I use construction paper and cut the sheets
into 2 x 11 strips. You can color code if you wish.
For example, use pink for all contractions that have
"n't" and blue for all those with "'ll". Write two
words such as "do not" on the strip. Next, fold the end
of the strip so that it covers the word "not". On top
of the fold, write "n't".
