Allow students to sit on their tables or desks. You hold the ball and then call out a dead word.Dead words are words that can be improved such as big, little, pretty. Instruct the child to turn this dead word into a sparkle word such as huge, tiny, beautiful. Then tell the student to pass the ball to a classmate. When the student has passed the ball call out the same word. When the student answers ask children to raise their hands if they have another sparkle word tell the children to pass the ball to a classmate with their hand raised. When all the children with their hand raised are finished call out another and repeat the directions until you feel your students have picked up some nice vocabulary. If wanted you can use similes such as, old as.... and let the students finish the sentence as a simile. Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
