#2163. Three Letter Game

Games, level: Elementary
Posted Sun Mar 4 16:57:18 PST 2001 by Christy (prncess@csw.net).
Perry Casa, Casa, USA
Materials Required: none
Activity Time: no specific time
Concepts Taught: vocabulary and dictionary skills

Another great game learned at a workshop. My students also loved this one.

You or one of your students writes down a three letter word where the others can not see it. Explain that you will be following the dicitonary method in this game, another words going by the alphabet. Then take turns letting the others guess your word. If my word is run and a student guesses dog. You would reply: your word comes before my word. Then the next person would guess. You keep doing this until they guess the word. You can also respond with other things like: my word come after your word or your word comes after my word, etc.

This game helps with dictionary skills and listening skills as well. You can change the amount of letters in your words as they get better at the game.
