#2288. Name Recognition - Kindergarten

Reading/Writing, level: Elementary
Posted Sat Jun 23 17:08:03 PDT 2001 by Toni/K/KY (dtthomas@kyol.net).
Washington County Elem., Springfield, KY
Materials Required: chalkboard, chart paper, or dry erase board
Concepts Taught: name recognition

To let students know who the Leader will be each day, I write their name on the board. Students must recognize their name to know that they are the leader. After everyone has mastered name recognition, I start putting phone numbers on the board. The students who don't already know their phone numbers rush home to learn them so that they will know when they are Leader. I've also used this strategy for last names, and middle names.
