How to Grow Tomato

Introduction:
In this lesson the student is intermediate, middle school, grade five through eight, will use design and conduct a scientific investigation. The class discussion will be about how plants are benefit to people and to our plant. They will learn how to grow tomatoes and how to protect tomato plants

Objectives:
The students will be able to grow tomato plants.
The students will determine what plants need to survive.
The students will recognize how tomatoes are a benefit to people and to our planet.
The students will know how long it takes to grow to tomato.
The students will know how to protect tomato plants.

Method:
Each student will be given ten seeds to be planted in paper cups with potting soil/dirt
Each student will record growth rate weekly.
Record how many survived
Replant the survivor into beds or large pots
Monitor growth four-six week.

Growing tomato in summer:
Make sure it does have enough water
Spray the tomato with chemicals
Add "miracle grow" fertilizer

Growing tomato in winter "greenhouse:"
Make sure it does have enough water
Spray the tomato with chemicals
Add "miracle grow" fertilizer
Adjust the temperature

Assessment:
A written test explaining the steps necessary to grow tomato plants from seed to full growing vegetable .
