#2481. Ice Cream Graphing

Mathematics, level: Pre-School
Posted Tue Feb 5 17:30:02 PST 2002 by Rita Stuart (stuartlrb@earthlink.net).
Brushy Elementary School, Sallisaw, Oklahoma
Materials Required: three flavors of ice cream, chart paper to make graph, crayons
Activity Time: 20 minutes
Concepts Taught: participates in simple graphing activity

Hang the graph in an area where all children can see. I use the flavors chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. Give each child a scoop of each flavor. After everyone has had a chance to get a good taste of all three flavors, ask each child which was his/her favorite. I color in the area with a crayon. When everyone has said their favorite, we count and write the number for each flavor and decide which one was the winner. This is a favorite in my classroom!
