II. RATIONALE AND BACKGROUND

The purpose of this lesson is to integrated technology into this unit. This lesson will show the students that they can learn about Africa on the Internet as well as the traditional method which is through books. This lesson will give the students an insight into a musical instrument found in Africa, children their own age in Africa, how to make a mask, and a Swahili folktale.

III. LESSON OBJECTIVES

TLW search the PBS Africa website. (OU # 6, 7, & 8; cognitive)

PI: The student will answer the questions on the study guide. [Individual assessment]

VI. PROCEDURES

A. Introduction and Motivation

The teacher will pass out the Web Search guide. The teacher will ask: Does anyone know what a thumb piano is? Today we are going to learn!

B. Body

The teacher will go over the rules of the computer lab. If the students do not choose to follow the rules they will get a zero for the assignment and they will write the rules.

The students will go to the computer lab. They will need to take a pencil. They will have 20 minutes to find the answers and explore the Africa for Kids website.

C. Closure

The students will turn off their computers and go back to the room. They will be given page 215 Skill Builder: Reviewing Line Graphs for homework.

VII. EVALUATION
