#269. famous historical people

Social Studies, level: Elementary
Posted by Barb Ackerman (ack@intelliworks.net).
Sacred Heart, Fremont, OH
Materials Required: references on famous people and any props the kids come up with
Activity Time: 1 week
Concepts Taught: learn the significance of famous people in history

Students are put into groups. They pick a famous person from history. It may be an explorer, president, scientist, etc. They have one week to put together a script of the life of the famous person. Once the script is put together and approved, they use props to act out the life. After everyone is finished, the students make up an evaluation for the class that needs to be approved by me. Students get a kick out of learning about different people. It seems to stay in their heads better than just reading it from a book.
