GENERALFor each piece, have the students only listen to the piece and identify in musical order the various layers. Then let them watch AND listen to the video to see how well they did identifying the order of sounds.
Discuss the instruments being represented in each piece. How would you categorize these instruments? Is more than one family of instruments represented? Which ones?
Listen to one of the pieces on this DVD. How you would alter the instrumentation?
Does the choice of instrument effect how you perceive a tune?
What is the role of each instrument? Which ones play the melody? Which ones play the harmony? Which ones play the rhythm?
What is the mood of each piece? How does the animator achieve that mood? Is it the music, the images, or a combination of both?
How could the mood of each piece be altered?
What happens to the mood of the piece whenever the Pogo Sticks enter a tunnel? What happens when they come out of the tunnel?
For the piece "Heavy Light" - How does the title of this piece relate to the mood of the piece?
