#2958. listening practice

Language, level: all
Posted Sat Oct 18 09:17:08 PDT 2003 by Merlin (t2pike@msn.com).
Estonia
Materials Required: CD player, CD, song lyrics
Activity Time: as long as needed
Concepts Taught: pairwork, listening

I teach English in different levels (5th-10th grades)and I always have trouble with teaching them to listen to different texts. So I picked a song (take one suitable for the level you are teaching) and wrote the lyrics on a piece of paper and made copies and then cut up the papers so that each pair got a copy of the song with the lyrics all mixed up. Then I played the song, two lines at a time and they had to put the song back together. It has proved to be great fun and they also learn to be extremely quiet in class in order not to miss anything!
