#3200. story telling

Language, level: Kindergarten
Posted Thu Aug 12 07:49:45 PDT 2004 by jaya (jayasramesh@hotmail.com).
Regent School, Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Materials Required: Letterland story books, great welcoming classroom

I have been using this method to help children to be more self confident and it also helps shy children.
When introducing a new letter with a sound and words, I tell them a story from the letterland book and at times I co-relate the characters like annie apple went to bouncy bear and keep adding to make the storytime more interesting. After I ihave finished my story I invite students one at a time (willing ones and later encourage the less confident ones) to come in front of the class and say the story in their words or they can make changes to the story narrated by me.
