#33. The Author Comes to Life

Literature, level: Senior
Posted by Jack Umstatter (JUmstatter@aol.com).
Cold Spring Harbor High School NY, US
Activity Time: half-year's lesson

Each student will research an author's life, works, and criticisms of the his/her works. A paper showing the student's research findings is written with the focus on the aforementioned areas. Each student will present a twenty minute presentation featuring those three areas. The student will be the author for those twenty minutes. Thus, Mark Twain walks into your classroom with a cigar, a white suit, bushy hair and a great sense of humor as he tells of his life, works, and criticisms of his writings.

It is a fun and educational way to learn about the authors. Modify the lesson according to the abilities of your students. Enjoy!
