#333. Seeds

Science, level: all
Posted by Tanya ().
Materials Required: Large lima beans, ziploc baggies, paper toweling

Soak large lima beans over night. Place them along with a damp
wad of paper toweling in plastic ziploc baggies, one bean to a
bag. Pin them to a bulletin board and record observations of
their growth. You may have to open the top once in a while to
prevent mildew.

You can also ask the students what they think affects growth of
plants and try putting some of the baggies in different
situations to study these affects. For example, if light is
mentioned tape several to a window, several far away from the
window, several in a dark cupboard or wrapped in black
construction paper.
