#340. "Fishin" for Good Nutrition

Materials Required: paper fish,food pictures,fishing poles with magnets attached
Activity Time: 30 minutes
Concepts Taught: Foods in the Food Pyramid


First show the childern a picture of the Food Pyramid and discuss this chart.

Place the paper fish,which has pictures of food on the backs of the fish,on the floor .

Each child gets a turn to fish. When the child has caught a
fish, he turns the fish over and tells what kind of food he has and where it would go on the food pyramid.

Next, have fresh fruits avaiable for the children to sample. Have some unusual ones like Starfruit, Ugly fruit, Kiwi, fresh pineapple, coconut, and the more popular fruits too.
