Materials Required: one hoop per child
Activity Time: 70minutes
Concepts Taught: jumping,turning,spining,rolling,throwing. etc

Objectives:
* Develop skills of jumping, turning, rolling, and also throwing & catching
* Combine many skills and compete at the race

Warm-up
Hoop Game:
1)Put hoops in a big circle on the ground.
Students run around the outside the hoops.
At the signal of whistles, students get in the hoops. (One person in one hoop!)
2)After repeating it for several times, teacher starts to reduce the number of the hoops.
【The other option】
1)The students who couldn't get in any hoops have to leave the game.
The students who remain till the end will be champions!
※ In this rule, a teacher has to be careful giving students enough chance to run.

1)JUMPING WITH HOOP
✽ Put the hoop on the ground, get inside the hoop and jump. . .
2) Sideways
Jump sideways while going in and out of the hoop.
3) Front to back
Jump front to back while going in and out of the hoop.
4)4 ways
Jump 4 ways (Front to back and sideways) while going in and out of the hoop.
5) 1 -- 1 Jump
Put hoops in the straight line.
Jump with both legs and one leg in a hoop (Do both sides).
When students get used to, compete at race.
6) 1 -- 2 Jump (Can be warm up from 2nd time) & Relay
Put hoops in 1-2-1-2 formation.
Jump the hoops while placing one leg inside.
✽ Both legs can be also placed inside the hoop 1.
When students get used to, compete at race.

TURNING HOOP
Students turn the hoops around different parts of the body.
Count how many times students can turn the hoop.
♦ One hand/ wrist/ arm
♦ Both hands / wrists / arms
♦ Stomarch
♦ Neck
♦ Leg
《Variation》
♦ Turn 2 hoops (or more) by hands or arms at the same time!
♦ Turn hoop(s) in pairs with holding hands
♦ Link hands in a small group and turn hoops.

2) Spin and run around
Spin the hoop on the spot and run around it.
Count how many times students can run around it before it falls down!

ROLLING HOOP
1) Rolling (Individual)
♦ Roll the hoop forward and run together freely in specious area.
(Roll as straight and stable as possible!)
✽ Compete who can roll further!
♦ Make backward spinning and students catch the hoop without moving the spot.
♦ Roll forward and go through the hoop by themselves.
(Roll as straight and stable as possible!)

2) Rolling (Teacher)
Students line up with holding hoops.
Teacher rolls the hoop one by one and a student chases and catches it,
before reaching the marked line.

3) Rolling ( Pair )
Make pairs, and stand facing each other 4~6 m apart.
Roll a hoop toward each other and catch it. (Roll as straight and stable as possible!)
✽ Count how many times students can roll within 30 secs.
Both of students in pair hold hoops.
Roll and catch the partner's hoop or roll and try to hit each other's hoop.

4) Rolling and going through
Make groups of 3.
2 students at the 2 ends roll the hoop toward each other.
(Roll as straight and stable as possible!)
The student in the middle goes through the rolling hoop.
✽ Change the role and repeat it.

THROWING HOOP
1) Throw and catch (Individual)
Throw the hoop up and catch it.
✽ Try to throw the hoop higher, as students improve.
《Variation》
♦ Throw with both hands and catch with both hands or one hand
✽ Students can also throw the hoop horizontal to the ground without spining , and catch it.
♦ Throw and clap hands once (or twice, three times. . .) and catch
♦ Throw and touch knees (or the gound) and catch
♦ Throw and turn 180 degrees (or 360 degrees) and catch
♦ Throw and students jump up, then catch in the air
♦ Throw the hoop a little forward, run and catch it

2)Throw and catch (Pair)
Make pairs, and stand facing each other 3~5 m apart.
Throw a hoop toward each other and catch it.
✽ Make the distance longer and throw the hoop higher, as students improve.
✽ Count how many times students can throw within 30 secs.

[GR 2 - GR 4]
SKIPPING HOOP
※ "Running skip" is usually easier than "skipping on the spot" with Hoop
1) Running skip Relay
Students hold hoops with both hands.
Turn the hoop forward and jump over it while running.
(Jump over the hoop every 4 steps!)
Jump as many times as possible!
※ Make a steady rhythm!
✽ When studetns improve, divide them into several equal teams and do the relay!
Each group uses a hoop to pass to the next runner instead of a baton.

2) Skipping on the spot
Students hold hoops with both hands.
Turn the hoop forward (or Backward) and jump over it.
Jump as many times as possible!
※ Make steady rhythm!
✽ Studetns can choose either 1 beat or 2 beats.

COMBINATION RACE
Divide students into 2 groups.
When teacher whistles,
① Student runs to the rope and hold both edges of the rope in front of the body.
Step over the rope and make it around the body for 3 times.
② Run and do 1-2 jump, then ③ go to the hoop and throw it up for 3 times.
④ Roll the hoop to the cone.
⑤ Come back with running skip and ⑥ do forward skipping on the spot for 5 times.
⑧ Again step over the rope and make it around the body for 3 times.
Run back and touch to the next runner.
✽ After practicing for a while, do the race!
※ Change the tasks depend on the grades.
✽ This activity is great fun including many skill practices.
This is also great for assessing students at the end of the lessons.
