Phonics Activity
/igh/ Long Vowel Sound


1. Can you think of any words that have –igh in them?
2. How does the –igh sound in these words?
3. Word Cards
4. Build and Read Longer Words
a. Explain to the student that you can often figure out longer words by looking for smaller words in them. Nighttime: Cover the word time, and have the children read the word night. Follow a similar procedure to have children read the word time. Then blend the two smaller words and read aloud the word nighttime.
