A Bad Case of the Stripes
Lesson Plan

Pre-Reading Questions:
• What do you think this book is about?
• Why do you think this girl has stripes?
• Do you think that she is sick? Tell me about a time when you were sick.

Summary:
Camilla Cream loves lima beans, but she never eats them. Why? Because the other kids at her school don't like them. And Camilla Cream is very, very worried about what other people think of her. In fact, she is so worried that she's about to break out in...... A BAD CASE OF THE STRIPES!

• If you haven't tried them would you like to?


Post Reading Questions:
• Why do you think lima beans cured Camilla?
• Why do you think Camilla was afraid to have people find out that she liked lima beans?
• Do you think that the students in the story were bullying Camilla?
• What is the lesson that you learned form this book?

Activities:
• Using pictures and/or words make a class list of your favorite foods and you least favorite foods. (Graphic Organizer)
• Make a Lima Bean Recipe
• Sort Different Varieties of beans by size, color, shape, etc.
• Graph: Favorite Beans to Eat
• Have the students create a new cover for the book.
