Apple Happy
This is apple happy.
This is apple sad.
Now you see him sleepy.
Now you see him mad.
This is apple in pieces small.
But in a pie he's best of all

Five Apples
The first apple in the basket
was bright and shy red.
The second apple in the basket
said, "What a cozy bed!"
The third apple in the basket
said, "Please move over there."
The fourth apple in the basket
said, "Now we are two pair."
The fifth apple in the basket
said, "Oh dear, me-oh-my!"
"This basket looks like pastry."
"I think we're apple pie!"


These are special apples,
Hanging on this tree.
I made them with my finger prints.
They are a part of me!

I have a little apple,
red and round.
On a tree it is found.
If you take a bite
You will see

Two little apples

Way up high, in a tree,

So I shook that tree as har-r-rd as I could.
Down came the apples. Ummmmm, were they good!

Bobby bought one & then there were 4

Why she ate one & then there were 2
Two red apples ripening in the sun
Tommy ate one, & now there was one
One red apple & now we are done
I ate the last one & now there are none!


Ten Red Apples
Here I have five apples. (hold up five fingers on right hand)
And here are five again. (hold up both hands)
How many apples altogether?
Why, five and five makes ten.


Eat an Apple
Eat an apple; (Bring right hand to mouth)
Save the core. (Close right hand in fist)
Plant the seeds. (Bend down touch hand to ground)
And grow some more. (Extend both arms out)

Falling Apple
A big red apple on a tree
Starts to fall right down on me
Thumpity-thud, it hits the ground
Scattering leaves all around
I'm glad it didn't hit my head
But landed in the grass instead.

Ten red apples grow on a tree
Five for you and five for me
Let us shake the tree just so...
And ten red apples will fall below.

What Readers Can Do

Did you know you can do the most marvelous stuff?
You can go around the world and if that's not enough,
You can travel in time _ to the future, to the past,

You can swim with the fishes beneath the blue sea,
And soar the wide sky where the eagles fly free.
All you need is a book -- well, maybe a few.
And the magic will happen. It's what readers can do!

Pumpkins in the cornfields,
Gold among the brown,

A Leaf
If I were a leaf
(but I wouldn't be)
I'd have to be tied

and my nose would get burned

In summer I'd roast,

When all the cows were sleeping

Will they ever slow down and stop at last?
One pumpkin hit a tree, its rolling now is done,

One last orange pumpkin rolling toward me,
Now it's stopped rolling, look and see.
Now how many pumpkins are rolling in the sun?
Did you guess zero? You're right, there are none.

You will need the following materials:
small paper plates curling ribbon flourescent paints stapler
1. Take the paper plate and cut halfway down the middle.
2. Bring the two end together and staple the plate into a cone shape.
3. Paint the cone shape.
4. Add curling ribbon to the plate at regular intervals. Staple or glue in place. Curl the ribbon. This will make the tentacles.
5. When dry, hang from the ceiling or add to the bulletin board.

And this little mouse - he heard the kitten sneeze!
ACHOO!!!! sneezed the kitten
(yell achoo)
and SQUEAK they all cried!

They found their hole and hurried inside

5 Little Mice
Five little mice were hungry as could be
"Let's go to the kitchen and see what we can see!"
The first little mouse found a tasty cookie crumb.
(See the tie-in?)
He ate it right up and said, "Yum Yum!"
The second little mouse found a piece of jelly bread.
"That snack was pretty good" he said
The third little mouse said
"For goodness sake Just look at that delicious chocolate cake!"
The fourth little mouse found a big piece of cheese.
All of a sudden he started to sneeze!
The fifth little mouse hollered,
"We'd better scat! Here comes Tommy that big old cat!"
Use cut out mice--Duplicated a cute mouse pattern onto gray paper and cut them out and laminate. Tape them --5-- onto my big book stand (easel) and remove them one by one while telling the story and we act out this fingerplay as a drama.)
