#448. Rewriting Fairy Tales

Materials Required: Books listed below, paper, pencil, creativity
Activity Time: Several class periods, 20-30 minutes per day
Concepts Taught: Literature Study of Popular Fairy Tales

Procedure: Begin by reading several "common" fairy tales such as Little Red Riding Hood, The 3 Little Pigs, Hansel and Gretel, etc.
Then read not so common fairy tles such as Lon Po Po, The Frog Prince Continued, The Stinky Cheese Man, The Three Little Javelinas,
The True Story of the Three Little Pigs. All of which are told from a different character's perspective, a different culture, or
have continued where the traditional story left off. After the students are familiar with these examples, break them into small
groups to write and illustrate their own stories.
