#580. tip for long division

Mathematics, level: Elementary
Posted Fri Aug 21 20:02:07 PDT 1998 by Barbara D'O (barb@atthebeach.net).

Concepts Taught: helps students stay focused

do next after they bring down a number. Even though you
post the steps on the board, they will subtract, bring down
and then get confused. I've found that if the students
learn to immediatedly draw a new division symbol abound the
subtracted and brought-down number, it will remind them to
divide as the next step. ____
