These songs are excellent in reinforcing calendar concepts:
"Seven Days of the Week" song (sung to the tune of Oh My Darling Clementine)
There are seven days
There are seven days
There are seven days in a week -
Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday
"Months of the Year" song
January, February, March and April
May, June, July and August
September, October, November, December
Twelve months in one year!
Another idea is to use different patterns for the number of the days, instead of using one. For example, this month I'm alternating snowman and mitten cutouts as my calendar numbers, and I've also explained the AB pattern to the students, incorporating a Math concept at the same time.
