Does your school mandate that you do centers? If not, drop them and follow the 4-Blocks framework. This way you'll have more direct contact with the students (which I can't imagine an administrator having trouble with). On the other hand, if the centers are meant to keep kids busy while you meet with small groups, you might get away with that by doing guided reading the 4-blocks way...which can include the 3-ring circus. and other models that might appease the higher-ups. Another question: Does your district describe its literacy framework as Four Blocks? If so, you might want to give them actual 4-blocks literature because it sounds like they don't really know what it is. Good luck trying to put it all together?
