Re: Problems in DODEA?

The union's been after Miles since last year, when she
increased class size and reduced aide support in
kindergarten. She also increased middle school class
sizes. The union has also been mounting a fairly
aggressive campaign against her this year as she is doing
a lot of district office restructuring - seems like she's
creating more management positions while increasing class
size and reducing classroom teachers and aides.
The accusations in this article certainly do add
intrigue. The claims about the computers and airline
tickets sound kind of petty, but circumventing hiring
practices to get jobs for family and friends are serious
issues, as is the wasteful spending of money for
management retreats. My guess is that she will negotiate
a very lucrative severance package and step down some time
in the next few months. There might be more shake-ups for
the people at the district offices - depending on how the
next person wants to structure at that level, but life
will go on as usual for us teachers.
