Just curious about something. I'm a former DoDDS teacher from about 10 years ago but have kept an active application with them for the past few years as I'd like to get back into DoDDS. One of my references did fill out an online reference two years ago when I added him as he was then my current principal. Then 2 days ago he received an e-mail from the EASS asking him to update his online reference for me that he has on file.

Could this mean that there is an opening and that DoDDS is looking for someone to fill a position in my field that I've applied for? I've not received anything from EASS since they sent the update e-mail request this past January. Just wondering if anyone has ever heard of anything like this happening. Or could it be for a temporary opening (like maternity leave of a teacher) as I indicated that I'd consider a temporary position. Thank for any insights.

haha There are quite a few positions still open/opening as we speak for various reasons. I have no idea if the update reference request is related to an opening or standard practice but if I had to guess it doesn't sound like something DoDDS would do for no reason.

HelpOthers Go to http://www.dodea.edu/Offices/HR/employment/vacancies.cfm, click on vacancies and look at the options in USA Jobs. Some of the positions are being posted. If you see one that interests you, complete the USA Jobs application by the close date.

uh89 Thanks Mary-Lorraine. But I notice that those jobs don't grant SOFA status as at least the ones for the Pacific state that they are for spouses or other family members of others who already have SOFA status and are not open to those of us who do not have it. I appreciate your listing of the link just the same.

HelpOthers The SOFA status depends on the position. Yes for substitutes, etc., but Nurse, teacher, administrator, etc., mention the relocation benefit, etc.
