I know of several positions that were recently hired for in Japan (ELA/Counselor, HS Science). The only one ones I know of that are still being hired for are for SLPs. I am sure though that there are still quite a few positions that are unfilled. The positions list for the transfer round is out which makes for interesting reading.

These positions will likely be filled but the positions (or ones like them) that are opened up by people transferring will probably go for CONUS hiring in a few months.

haha In recent years past there were always around 200 positions so about the same/a little less. There are quite a few SPED positions and some interesting combinations all around. Should make for an interesting hiring season this year.

happyteacher I see some EI/Preschool Disabled and EI/LIMS combos in there... how likely are those to fill in the transfer round? I doubt the person filling it would have come from teh exact same position at another school.

haha I'd say there is a decent chance those will get filled, depending on where they are, Places like Korea and some Japan locations (Misawa, Iwakuni, etc) are much less likely to be filled in the transfer round than places in Europe or nearer to Tokyo. Whatever is filled is likely to leave behind a hole with roughly the same certification requirements ...See More
