Hi all, I'm curious if anyone currently or previously employed by DODEA schools can comment on how easy/hard it is for a spouse to find work once you get to your post (I know this is a tough question to answer and probably varies widely from location to location). My fiance and I are not in a financial position for him to stay home if I land a DODEA position. Even with the housing assistance, we'd need additional income (student loans sure are fun). He's currently in events/marketing, but has a background in office management and the service industry. He is willing to do just about any job if I am offered a position, but I am wondering how often people get stuck without any options due to a small base with limited positions, the language barrier in the surrounding community, etc. Any thoughts or experiences you'd be willing to share would be very much appreciated!
haha It does vary wildly from location to location obviously. But in general if someone is open to many possibilities (e.g. supply person, working at the Bowling Alley, commissary, subbing, teaching English, etc)) and really commits to it they will find something which can eventually turn into something meaningful, managerial, etc.
