Hi, I'm an elementary teacher and I submitted an application back in February for the 2017/2018 school year for several state side bases, as well as overseas . The application site says I'm qualified for everything I've applied for, but I haven't had a phone call or email.

How long have others waited after they've applied to hear anything or be interviewed? Should I have contacted the principals on my own?

haha The answer is weeks to years to never, which isn't very helpful. Some people get hired quickly, some never hear a word. Elementary positions can be hard to secure. There are a lot of openings every year but there are also a lot of candidates (and many elementary positions seem to go to local hires/military spouses).

HelpOthers It is not a good idea to contact principals unless you have at least made it onto a referral list or you live in the local area.
