Re: somebody needs to write a survival guide
    Posted by APO on 7/24/08

    Hi S,

I know what you are feeling. I felt the same way 8 years ago
when I joined DoDDS, but believe me, it is the best teaching
job I ever had and I would not want to return to stateside
teaching. It seems like a whirlwind of activity right now
and I am sure you are overwhelmed, but after a few months,
you will be adjusted to a new culture (both military and
overseas) and everything else will seem minor. Eventually,
you will get reimbursed for the hotel...called TQSA...but I
know it is hard when you have to pay out-of-pocket first.
One suggestion...I think you can get an advance pay. I
never did it myself, but I know several first-time hires did
it. I would call your HQ contact and inquire.

Where are you headed? I am in Germany.
