Check with your principal and check your class list. Will
5th graders be able to understand the implications of
certian objectional words? It was written using the
vocabulary of the time and there's no changing it, however,
you will need to be sensitive to the developmental level of
your students. I don't think that you would read The Diary
of Anne Frank to 2nd graders for the same reasons;
developmentally inappropriate.
