I'm so glad that other people are writing about this! It's been
driving me crazy. I'm on vacation now and just got an email
from the secretary at my school saying that the principal wanted
to meet with me Monday about my test scores from last year.
This was the year that I had one of the worst class combinations
that I've ever had---teachers were looking at my class list
before school started and saying that they felt sorry for me. I
felt like I spent huge amounts of time sorting out behavior
problems rather than trying to actually teaching. Despite
trying to tell the principal during the school year that I was
concerned, he didn't want to hear about it until after the
fact. A friend put it into perspective by saying that I
probably hadn't changed a huge amount from the year before when
every child but one passed the test. There's so much that's out
of my control and yet I feel like I get into trouble based upon
the kids.
