Re: Get training mentally must be absolutely's problem
Posted by Deb ms/IA on 9/27/08

Where did you offer any solution to the OP problem? Where did you
offer any ideas on how to look into and change AR in a school and give
advice for parents? You offered anger at the AR program and on ima
and now on me. Nowhere did I see you offer any solutions to make
    learning better.

If you come here and whine and fuss and offer no solutions to problems
that makes you part of the problem. You were given solutions and
things to look into to make changes and you scoffed them off and
    insulted the messengers.

I have been a parent of AR first and now the teacher of AR. I can
offer what has worked for me. That's all I did. You are the one full
of anger and not accepting help to make changes.

Grading AR does not make it punitive. It makes it one factor of many
in a reading curriculum. It increases accountability and it is
assessed thus meets standards. AR is not a willy nilly program and
has merits to helping students (you said so your self).

I never claimed to be right or wrong about AR. I gave my advice based
on my 21 years of experience. Use it or not but don't whine and
    complain blaming everything on AR.

Any parent has far more credibility when they are willing to work with
the teacher to make appropriate changes in a learning environment. If
you came to me with valid documentation that I was doing something
wrong I would check it out and see if I was. You being a teacher who
uses the program would have far more influence in making change than a
mad mom shaking a finger in my face making accusations and with no
    data.

I don't care if you disagree with me. But I don't work at your
daughter's school and I can't make changes for that school. So why
are you mad at me, Ima and AR? So go fix that ms or back off. AR is
not responsible for that ms program. Again your anger is misplaced in
    the wrong direction.

So get over it or change it but that's not gonna happen here on this
    board.
