    Post: Audio Books & AR

    I have a parent who is using audio books to help her
    children reach their AR goals. I have a issue with this
    because I don't believe, since they are not actually
    reading the book, (not even following along) that this is
    fostering independent reading, nor measuring
    their "reading" comprehension. She states they are using
    it for higher-level stories or classics, but that is just
    not the case in fact some of the stories are below the 7th
    grader's ZPD. Thoughts?
